NEW Couples Therapy Training - starting March 2012

A systemic approach to working with intimate relationships. This professional development training is aimed at qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to develop or extend their practice in helping couples.

During these four modules you will learn how support good contact between couples, using a Gestalt field-based perspective. You will also deepen your understanding of the dynamics of family and intimate life based on the systemic (constellation) approach developed by Bert Hellinger and others over the past twenty years in the UK.

You will have time to develop a thorough and basic grounding in the moment by moment practice working with couples, including

• Understanding what supports love,

• Developing a phenomenological stance,

• Exploring the impact of the past, especially the power of hidden loyalties

• Creating appropriate interventions for life and relationship stages,

• Working sensitively with conflict and a range of common cultural issues.

The training takes place over four three-day modules spread over the year, and will provide ongoing opportunities for supported practice, as well as the chance to observe a number of senior practitioners working live.

The training will be led by Judith Hemming, an experienced UKCP trainer and couples therapist working with both Gestalt and Systemic approaches, supported by Chris Williams. Other contributors will include Richard Wallstein, Jutta ten Herkel and Nicola Dunn.

The training will be run over the 4 following module:

• Module 1: 14-16th March 2012

• Module 2:  16-18th May 2012

• Module 3: 11-13th July 2012

• Module 4: 3-5th October 2012
